St Helen’s has been a site for Christian worship since at least the 11th century. It is estimated that the existing building was originally built in 1240, with the first recorded vicar being appointed in 1222. Situated at the junction of Church Lane and Barkestone Lane. The churchyard contains many headstones relating to village families, dating from the 17th century. A corner of the churchyard, originally the site of the village schoolhouse, is used for the burial of cremated remains and a remembrance garden.
A Harvest Service is to be held in Plungar Church at 4 pm on Sunday 29 September 2024. In readiness for the Harvest Service, the Church are inviting people to donate fresh produce, food and other items that will be sent to the Grantham Foodbank. These donations will be monitored daily by Kevin Hunt so any fresh produce and other perishable items will be taken to Foodbank straightaway (contact Kevin via email on kevinhuntj@yahoo.co.uk if you have any questions). Items in short supply include pasta, rice, tinned food (meat, vegetables and fruit), pet food, soap and other toiletries
